Full-rack request

CyBlue users, under certain circumstances, can request that all 1,024 nodes be reserved for their use. This request should be made only when absolutely necessary as no one else will be able to use the machine during the reserved time. Such request for a production run should be made only if the same cannot be achieved on 512 nodes. The most compelling reason for doing so is that the scale of the problem being attempted is such that it cannot be run on 512 nodes. One should not request 1,024 nodes solely for the purpose of finishing a run in 4 hrs instead of taking 6hrs on 512 nodes. Those interested in application scaling studies can request the whole rack for this purpose, but the duration of reservation is expected to be much shorter than requested for production runs.

Reservations for the full rack should be made at least a week in advance. You are strongly encouraged to submit a request as soon as you know of the need, and are ready to carry out the run. Justification for the use of the whole rack, and the times at which the reservation is being requested are required.
